The atmosphere of our bar and grill in West Village combines an energetic, busy sports-bar – with over 20 televisions and a great selection of craft beers – with a brick front colonial building located on a quiet, tree lined street. 15 Barrow Street dates back to 1897 where it was built by Conrad Schaper. Mr. Schaper was one of the original “truckers” in the neighborhood. By “trucker” we mean he hauled goods near and far by horse drawn carriage. 15 Barrow was used as a stable and carriage house by Schaper. Contrary to popular belief, Aaron Burr did not come to own or reside at 15-17 Barrow Street. According to historians, Aaron Burr’s estate was located nowhere near Barrow Street. Barrow Street Alehouse bar and grill in West Village has enjoyed past lives as a 19th Century stable and carriage house, a Latin Bar & Restaurant, and a very popular jazz club (Café Bohemia) where Miles Davis used to play. Barrow Street Alehouse was established in 1990. Today, Barrow Street Alehouse enjoys it’s unique identity as a hybrid of craft beer bar, full service sports bar serving quality spirits and restaurant cooking up fantastic pub fare. Visit us today and get a taste of both historic New York and the fun, vibrant West Village bar and grill scene.
