Yes, it’s seriously July already, and summer is officially in full swing! Barbecues, pool parties, boats, biergartens, camping, golf, gardening, lawnmowers, and one of my personal favorites: the summer concert series. Looks like we’re going to need a lot of Atwater cans for all the summer activities.

Last summer, my VW Westfalia was wrapped with Tony Roko’s artwork for my mango wheat creation, Whango. I’ve already taken the trusty Whango bus on a couple quick weekend getaways this summer, and paid a visit to some other fine breweries tucked away in small corners of our beautiful peninsula. The freedom to hit the road with no set plan and to be able to pop the top, drop the bed and turn your transporter into evening accommodations is really a great feeling. If you see me, I’ve been known to pull a matching can out of the fridge inside and share. After all, a Whango bus should be stocked with Whango! We’ll be rolling the Whango bus into a number of concerts this summer as well, from our hometown sheds in Michigan to Chicago and Dayton.

Music is an important element both in brewing and in life. Firing up the brew house and cranking up the tunes makes happy beer and happy Brad. Chances are, if you are the second person in the building, you’ll catch me spraying steaming hot water chasing my mash into the lauter while getting down and singing at the top of my lungs.

I hope you’ll enjoy some of my favorite summer brews outside on our roof top bar in Detroit, biergarten in Grosse Pointe Park, our sidewalk in Grand Rapids, or grab a case of our cans and do your favorite outdoor activity. Pack it in, pack it out, leave no trace. See you at the MBG Summer Beer Festival in Ypsilanti!
