Cheers to 20 years Atwater Brewery

This year marks the 20th anniversary since we opened our doors in 1997. From the start, Atwater set out to brew lagers that held true to the German brewing tradition here in Detroit. This tradition reaches back to the 1800’s, when immigrants brought their knowledge of beer to the Detroit area, forming some of Michigan’s most beloved breweries including: Stroh’s Brewery Co, Pfieffer Brewing Co, and Goebel Brewing Co. While all of the original breweries in Detroit no longer exist, their legacy of commitment to style and quality are not forgotten. Atwater’s Lager pays homage to this legacy with the incorporation of German noble hops (Herkules and Hersbrucker), adding a light and floral aroma. We also use a unique proprietary yeast strain, which gives our lager its signature taste. Using the finest ingredients, our beers are brewed in a German manufactured brewhouse (BrauKon) and fermented to perfection. One sip of our crisp, golden lager and you’ll understand why we’re raising our pints to tradition. Cheers to 20 years!
