The American steakhouse grew out of bar culture, so Hurley’s Steakhouse & Pub seems like a logical next step for Dublin-born bar owner Paul Hurley. Hurley wanted to refine the quintessential steakhouse experience, so the former rug store in Division Street, New Rochelle has been transformed with some classic markings: tufted banquettes, marble bar, Prime Steaks, Seafood and a selection of pub and traditional dishes, all with an extra-jazzy soundtrack. The signature dish the Racquet Ball Ribeye — seasoned, seared, then thrown into an 1,800-degree broiler — comes out with a crust that resembles chicharrónes, and the generously portioned wedge salad is adorned with hunky pieces of smoked bacon.

Cozy up by the fireplace or hangout in the pub area

Enjoy a Bar Bites menu while watching tv and a selection of beers on tap. There is a luxurious sense of comfort made more welcoming by their friendly staff. Paul Hurley, a native of Co. Dublin in the republic of Ireland, started his career in Dublin’s famous Shelbourne Hotel, where he learned his Masters trade of Bartending. In those days this was no easy role and a 2yr apprenticeship was essential. After spending 2 years studying at Dublin’s Cathal Brugha Street, working after school as well as weekends at the Shelbourne, Paul finally became bartender of the year and won countless competitions for cocktail making throughout Europe for his creativity and Irish coffee making. In the mid 1980’s Paul decided after conquering Dublin’s bar scene, he set his goals on New York City, where he would take up a post as bartender at Kennedy’s famous Irish pub on Second Avenue, a brand that he would own himself 25 years later. He opened his first bar and restaurant 12 years ago, called PD O’Hurley’s at 72nd Street and Broadway, to great critical acclaim. Paul is married to Finola and has a 14yr old son named Desmond. He is an avid family man residing in the town of New Rochelle. Paul also started many Irish charities since moving to New York City and headed up a number of Irish football Associations in New York. Paul looks forward to the challenges ahead and is always on the lookout for new business opportunities. Along with being an avid family man and running his bars and restaurants, Paul also finds time to hold the position of President of the New York Bar, Restaurant and Tavern Owners Association. He is a member of the New York Athletic Club since 1996.
