The great Jamaican Beer we know today has set the standard by which other beers are measured since 1928. An icon reflecting the roots, vibrancy, and pride of the Jamaican people. Red Stripe Company began in 1928 when two Jamaicans, Desnoes & Geddes (D&G) began brewing it in a soda-pop factory in Kingston. The brand, now produced in the US, has been the recipient of numerous international awards for fine quality and taste, including 11 gold medals at the Monde Selection and the “Grand Gold Medal” in Barcelona in 1991.
1918 – Thomas Hargreaves Geddes and Eugene Desnoes formed Desnoes and Geddes Company limited. Setting the stage for the historic inception of Red Stripe Beer.

1928 – The first Red Stripe branded beer was brewed and becomes a milestone in Jamaican history.

1965 – The Red Stripe stubby bottle was introduced.

2003 – Red Stripe beer receives a gold medal in the Monde Selection. Red Stripe Light wins the Silver Medal.

2005 – For the first time ever. Red Stripe beer export volume exceeds domestic volume and consumption.
