Guinness West Indies Porter

THE STORY OF GUINNESS® WEST INDIES PORTER

Guinness West Indies Porter bottles the best of both worlds. The classic bitterness. A caramel-toffee sweetness. Then the touch of sourness. Pour this beer and enjoy a globetrotting Guinness that’s picked up a few distinct tricks along the way. With a higher % ABV and a chocolaty finish, it’s perfectly complex and decidedly unique.

A beer well traveled, Guinness West Indies Porter was inspired by a recipe devised by our brewers back in 1801, when we first decided to export our legendary porter across the globe. The mother of what we now know as our Foreign Extra Stout, it was the pioneering brew that began it all, crafted with more hops to preserve the beer during sea voyages of four-to-five weeks in tropical climes.

“Guinness West Indies Porter was inspired by a recipe devised by our brewers back in 1801, when we first decided to export our legendary porter across the globe.”

Today, the recipe has been reimagined by our master brewers. Our unique yeast ferments faster, resulting in a fresher finish. The maturation is shortened, producing a sweeter toffee-like aroma and flavor. An immensely flavorful porter, it is modern creativity brewed up with ancient ingenuity. History relived.
